HairLoss99 is built so you can read everything without an account and without telling us anything about yourself. This page explains the little we do collect.
Reading the site
- We don't ask for your name, email or health details to read guides, use the cause finder or the Norwood checker.
- Cause finder answers stay in your browser. They aren't sent to us.
- Cookies and analytics: see below. Nothing is tracked unless you accept.
- Our server keeps standard web logs (IP address, page, browser type) for up to 30 days to keep the site secure and working.
Cookies and analytics
- Sign-in cookie (
hl99_session): only if you sign in, to keep you signed in. Needed for the site to work. - Google Analytics (cookies starting
_ga): only if you click Accept on the cookie banner. It tells us which pages people visit and how they move around the site, so we can improve it. We send Google the address of the page without anything after a "?" (so never your Ask AI question or PIN code), and we never send names, emails or health details. Google's advertising features are switched off. Google Analytics is covered by Google's privacy policy. - You can change your choice any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Find a dermatologist
When you search by PIN code, we send only the PIN code to Google's Places and Geocoding services to find nearby clinics. Results come from Google; tapping a listing opens Google Maps, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Ask AI
When you ask the hair assistant a question, we send your question (and, in a conversation, your last couple of questions and answers) together with excerpts from our guides to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, to write the answer. We don't send your name, email or IP address. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data isn't used to train their models. To save cost we keep a copy of common questions and answers for up to 7 days, without anything that identifies you. Please don't include personal details in your questions.
Commenting, forum and reviews (members only)
To comment, post in the community forum, write a review or like a post, you sign in with Google. We do this only to make sure there's a real person behind each comment and to cut down spam.
What we store:
- Your Google account ID and email address. Never shown publicly. We use them only to run your account and, if needed, to contact you about a comment.
- The display name you choose. It's shown next to your comments, so you don't need to use your real name.
- What you post (comments, forum conversations and replies, reviews and star ratings), where and when you posted it, the posts you like or report, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address that we use to stop abuse.
- For doctor and clinic reviews we store only Google's ID for that place, not its details.
- A sign-in cookie (
hl99_session) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. We don't use advertising cookies; analytics cookies only if you accept them.
What we don't do: we don't get your Google password, contacts or other data, we don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Moderation. A new member's first posts are checked by a moderator before they appear, and every doctor review is checked. Posts reported by several members are hidden until a moderator looks at them. We remove comments that share personal health details about others, promote products or clinics, or break the law.
Delete your account. In any comment box, choose Delete my account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and everything you posted: comments, forum posts, replies, reviews and likes. You can also email privacy@hairloss99.com.
Buy links
Some product pages link to online shops. Some of those links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. When you click one, the shop can set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We never use affiliate links for prescription medicines.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or complain about how we handle it.

HairLoss99 is meant for adults. Please don't create an account if you're under 18.
